What do you repair?

We specialize in most newer DJI products from the Phantom 3 onward.  We stock nearly all parts, and work also work on newer models such as the Mavic Air 2 and Mavic Mini.

What is the average cost?

The cost varies by the drone and job.  Unlike other companies that offer a “flat fee”, we have found it is much more affordable to the consumer to price the job according to the exacting issue.  We offer completely free diagnostics (with repair) and free estimates as well as free return shipping to national customers.  Bottom line, we will get you an answer at no cost to you (with repair).  If you decide to decline a repair, then just a $59.99 diagnostic fee is due. The return shipping is always free.

What is included with the repair?

The repair price will include the parts, labor & tax (if necessary).  Return shipping to national customers is always fast & free, even if you decline the repair.  Additionally, all calibrations, firmware updates and test flights are performed as a final quality check to ensure all systems are working properly before the return.

What condition will a repaired drone be like compared to new?

Great question.  All repairs are confirmed to be working properly and safe prior to return.  In most cases, our drones are returned looking and flying like brand new.  We use factory rebuild techniques to ensure the quality of the repair is like that of the factory assembly, no shortcuts.

Do you stock repair parts?

Yes. We thousands of individual repair parts for stock most of the common models we repair.  Most parts are genuine factory parts or quality aftermarket parts for the cases where no factory part is available.

Where do we accept shipments from?

We ship to and from the continental United States.  We also ship to Puerto Rico, Alaska, Hawaii and the outlying islands and territories.

How long does shipping take?

Most shipments average 2-4 business days.  It is unusual for any package to take longer than 7 days to arrive.

Who is our shipping provider?

We have commercial accounts with all the major shipping providers, including FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS.

What should I use to ship a package to Madison Area Drone Service?

You can use any major shipping provider to ship your drone to our shop address. FedEx, UPS and USPS are the most popular providers for shipments originating in the USA.

How much will it cost to ship a drone?

The total price will vary depending on the drone size and value. Generally, smaller drones, with insurance, will cost within the range of $7-18. Larger drones, with insurance, typically cost between $25-40 to ship one way. In very rare cases, usually a large or expensive drone, a shipment can exceed $60 or more.

What to I send in the box?

In most cases, we will need the drone and remote control at a bare minimum.  We generally have all other accessories here to test with.  If we need more, we’ll be sure to let you know before you send your drone in.

Will I have to pay for return shipping?

Not at all.  Return shipping is completely free.  Insurance, per the value of the drone and included pieces, is included.

I am unfamiliar with shipping, what should I do?

Don’t worry, we will help guide you through the process.  You may contact us for more information.  If you are unfamiliar with shipping and you wish to make it as easy as possible, we offer a shipping kit for an additional cost. The shipping kit contains everything that is necessary to get the drone to us, and includes the initial shipment to your address as well as the return label back to us. The kit also contains, the box, tape and packing material. Select “YES” for the shipping kit while you fill out the online repair ticket, or reach out to us directly for assistance.

What aerial services to we provide?

Our advanced DJI & Autel drones are able to capture aerial photography and HD video, with photo resolutions of 48 megapixel or larger and video formats as high as 8K.  We specialize in complex, difficult and demanding environments, including demanding video sequences.  In addition to aerial media, we also can generate 2D and 3D maps, collect data points such as distance, area & volumetric measurements.  From realty to new construction, and everything in between, rest assured we can get the job done.

What equipment do you use?

Our available drones include the highly capable DJI Inspire 2, the Autel Evo II 8K and the maneuverable but impressive DJI Mavic Air or Air 2 for tight spots or inside shots.  Our DJI Inspire 2 is capable of speeds up to 57 MPH and can obtain impressive and difficult shots with ease while keeping up with a demanding environment.

What is your experience?

Our lead pilot has flown over 1000 flights, over 800 miles of combined distance over several years of practice without incident.  We have experience flying around unique situations such as high-end exotic cars, close-flying building inspections, dual-operator shots, and other sensitive environments. With over 15 years of piloting remote aircraft, we have the experience and confidence necessary for any situation.

Do we possess the necessary requirements to fly?

Of course. All pilots flying on behalf of Madison Area Drone Service hold their remote pilot certificate required for commercial flight operations by the FAA. Additionally we are insured per event, with proof of insurance able to be provided prior to each flight if requested in advance. We adhere to all airspace regulations and will not fly unless we have the necessary permissions.
